Terrorists are planning to hijack a Delhi-Kabul Air India flight, warned Intelligence agencies warned on Sunday. Citing security concerns a high alert has been sounded in the country.
The agencies have especially cautioned Air India to enhance the security system for its operations across India. The Indira Gandhi International airport has been put on alert and stringent checks have been put in control. They are expected to take more time now.
Commandos have been put in charge and number of flight marshals have also been increased.
In 1999, terrorists hijacked IC 814 to Kandahar and intelligence alert says that this bid could be similarly executed.
The alert comes in the wake of Obama’s visit to India on the Republic Day.
